THERE was a large field of entries in the Men’s Fourball Better Ball Open Competition at Okehampton Golf Club on Saturday, July 21.

Overall winners, with a fantastic score of 50 points, were James Hall and Ricky Wooldridge, in second place were Allen Deakin and David Williams with 47 points after countback from, in third, A Adams and I Cornick from Weymouth.

The best Okehampton/Combination prize was won by Rod Wright and Trevor Parker with 46 points and the best visitor prize went to P Hendy and P Isaac from Yelverton GC.

The second visitor prize was won by L and R Turner from Fingle/Ashbury and in eighth place were Andy Parry and Dan Hudson with 46 points.

The ladies section entered a stableford competition for the President’s Salver and the winner of the Silver Division and the salver, with 38 points, was Penny Deakin.

Sue Williams was second with 34 points winning on the back nine placing Sue Stanbury in third place.

The winner of the Bronze Division was Doris Jewell with 35 points, Jane Warren was second also with 35 points and Maureen Willcocks took third place with 34 points.

The County Silver meeting was held at Yelverton on Monday, July 16 and Okehampton’s Lady Captain Sue Williams came away with the lowest nett score winning the Joan MacKenzie handicap salver.
