OKEHAMPTON Golf Club held its first Senior Open competitions on Monday, April 16, which saw overall winners, Andy Shapland, Jerry Lock and Graham Pengelly (Okehampton), score 78 points.
Second overall were John Haley, Paul Rattenbury and Alan Stokes with 76 points winning on the back nine.
The first visitor prize went to Peter Bradbury, Alan Plaice and Steve Arthur with 76 points (St Austell), second visitor prize went to Richard Stevens, Jeff Maynard and Colin Wayman with 74 points (Fingle/Exeter).
First Home/Combination winners were Clive Yeo, Barry Porter and Dennis Edwards with 74 points and sixth place was taken by Malcolm Hooper, Del Owen and Paul Skidmore with 73 points (Okehampton/Dawlish).
On Saturday, April 21 a Four Ball Better Ball Stableford for the Barnes Cup was held and the winners of Division One and the Barnes Cup were Richard McFarlane and Phil Atherton with 46 points.
In second place were Alan Lawson and Paul Ayris with 42 points on the back nine from, in third Malcolm Hooper and Rob Green.
Division Two was won by Rod Milsom-Smith and Rod Jones with 46 points, Dave Grimes and Bryan Evans were second also with 46 points and Bernard Olesqui and Jerry Lock were third with 45 points.
On Sunday, April 22 a Mixed Open competition was played and the overall winners were David and Sue Stanbury with 43 points after countback placing Barry Porter and Maggie Caws in second place.
The first visitor prize was awarded to Brian and Sally Newman (Stover) with 42 points, best home/combination prize was won by Henry and Francis Harbron with 40 points after countback and in fifth place were Bob and Marcia Collett also with 40 points.
