SENIORS at Downes Crediton Golf Club played a pairs medalford competition on Monday, May 16 which saw the partnership of Nigel Ashplant and Chris Theedom victorious with a stunning score of 48.

Laurie Taylor and Rick Eidam scored 47 points to finish in second whilst the duo of John Rance and Jim Matheson (44pts) were placed third.

James Bourner won the Stableford on Wednesday, May 18 with a score of 37 points.

Downes ladies played their annual Coronation Foursomes on Thursday, May 19 and it was the pair of Doreen Warren and Ying Wong who scored 30 points to take the top spot with Angela Storey and Anne Woodger (28pts) in second.

The winner of the Thursday 9 hole stableford was Ken Bones scoring a superb 23 points.

The Mid Devon Foursomes Weekend – which ran from May 20 to 21 saw more than 160 competitors turn out to play the ever popular Mid Devon Foursomes around Downes Crediton and Okehampton Golf Clubs and with the courses in superb conditions there was some great golf.

Downes Crediton high fliers were the duo of Rebecca Aven and Nick Murch who posted scores of 38 and 36 points for a 74 total to win the Mixed Competition Cup whilst the overall Handicap Cup was won by the Okehampton pair of Matt Parry and Paul Rattenbury.

The Scratch Cup went to Cricket St Thomas members Aaron Crabb and Liam Hanslip with a fine total of 69 points.
