A CHARITY Golf Day in aid of Save the Children, held at Downes Crediton Golf Club, was played in dry, sunny weather and resulted in some great scores.

With more teams entered than ever before, the day was enjoyed by members and visitors alike. A special charity golf day meal deal offer was laid on by the caterers and enjoyed by many.

The results were: Best All Ladies: Member Jo Coe and her guests from Churston and Exeter - Sheila Jarvis, Carole Raymond and Annie Clayton.

Best All Men: Club Captain Alex Williams, Richard Tonkins, Richard Jennings and Chris Vercoe.

Best Mixed: Members - Fran Shrubsole, Liz Mapson, Tony Sykes and Rickie Edam.

Best Visitors and Guests: Tristan Kershaw, Chris Bruce, Adam Hull and Johnny R from Okehampton.

Best All Visitors: Allen Deakin, Fred Cooke, Frank Ward and Graham Pengelly from Okehampton Golf Club.

The team with the Best Overall score - an incredible 95 points, was: Peter Blinkhorne, John Cornish, Kate Cornish and Andrew Rogers.

The day raised more than £6,000 for Save the Children. A highlight of the raffle was a fabulous fruit cake, provided by one of the members which was won by a visitor from Tiverton Golf Club.
