A SPECIAL fundraiser to make swordplay more accessible has been launched by Heart of Devon Swords Fencing Club.

The £1,125 target would fund a specialised flat-pack “SwordSeat” and essential kit, so the Exeter club can introduce Para Fencing to its training sessions.

Club coach Jason Ball says: "Seated Fencing means people can train together on a more equal basis.

"Most people can't afford a pro Fencing wheelchair but if we can get a SwordSeat that opens the door to people who've never had the chance to play this fast-action sport."

Donations to the SwordSeat project on the CrowdFunder web page ( www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/swordseats-at-the-heart-of-devon ) will be collected via Devon County Fencing Union.

Heart of Devon Swords is a British Fencing club based at Alphington in Exeter and offers Thursday evening classes in Épée and Sabre.

It has previously run fencing courses in at Active Mid Devon Crediton.
