Another good win for North Tawton
EXETER ATHLETIC 36 - NORTH TAWTON 54
NORTH Tawton travelled to the home of Exeter Athletic with confidence after last week's performance against league leaders Exmouth, as it turned out, while it was a good win and breaking the 50 point mark, I don’t think it will be remembered as the best game of the season.
It was a game almost played in three parts. In the first 10 minutes North Tawton found themselves 12-nil down, hardly getting out of their own half due somewhat for what is becoming a regular slow start to the game.
We then get into a period for the rest of the first half where the side from Tawton come crashing to life and get five unanswered tries be they from some good rugby or by some very poor defending by the hosts.
Three tries from the always busy captain Ryan Goss, one try for Dan Quin making a rare appearance and one try for the ever reliable Cam Rickerby with all the conversions added from the boot of Liam Pyle.
We get to half time 12-35 in favour of the Tawts.
We get the second half underway with more of the same, North Tawton quickly adding two more tries, one from George Nye and one from Dave Borne, with a rare kick missed and its 12-47 - as a Tawton fan you would start to think its in the bag.
Exeter Athletic now go into their higher gears and its their turn to get three tries on the bounce, taking the score to 29-47.
While its still comfortable for North Tawton it was with a bit of relief that Cam Rickerby went over and dotted down under the posts bringing the Exeter sides good run to an end before the wobbles really set in, 29-54.
The hosts did have the last word scoring a try right at the death to give us the final score of 36-54.
All in all its another good win for North Tawton, played in heavy conditions and with one or two more injuries picked up not helping the cause to contend with.
Next Tawton travel back to the same ground to take on Exeter Engineers.
