OKEHAMPTON Golf Club’s Club Champion for 2017 is Peter Howell. Many congratulations go to Peter, who shot a gross 78 in the first round and an excellent gross 69 in the second.

The 36 hole competition was played over two weekends and culminated in an exciting and nail-biting six hole play-off between Peter Howell and Hayden Morris.

Fantastic golf was displayed by both players who kept everyone on tenterhooks to the very end.

Hayden was the winner of the Hutchings Cup (36 Hole Handicap) and Kevin Cornwall was the winner of the Leonard Tankard for the best gross over 55’s (36 holes).

Many thanks also go to the greenkeepers for producing a superb course and to the many people who stayed and supported the players to the very end in the beautiful sunshine.

A total of 29 players contested the Seniors’ Championship which was won by Nick Waldron with an impressive net 62, five shots ahead of Ron Uren net 67 and Bob Reddington net 68.

The winner of the best gross score was David Williams with a gross 69.

The ladies section played their monthly Stableford competition and the winner of the Silver Division, with an impressive 40 points, was Marcia Collett. In second place was Sue Williams with 36 points with Sue Stanbury in third with 33 points.

Pam Jarman was the winner of the Bronze Division with 32 points, Jane Warren was second with 31 points and Janice Thwaites was third with 29 points.
