OKEHAMPTON Golf Club’s 2019 Club captain Simon Taylor presented a cheque for £1,227.10 to Liz Spiers, Telephone Support Volunteer of the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS).

Simon and his wife Kerri would like to thank everyone for their support in raising money for this charity which is so close to their hearts.

The (NRAS) is the only patient-led organisation in the UK providing support and advocacy for the 400,000 adults living with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and the 12,000 children and young people living with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), both very painful autoimmune conditions with no cure.

The diseases leave sufferers with swollen joints and in severe pain and the effect on day-to-day life for those with the diseases and their families can be devastating.

The NRAS mission is to support everyone living with the impact of RA and JIA at the start and at every stage of their journey, to be their first choice for reliable information and to empower all to take control of their condition.

A spokesperson for the NRAS said: “We are very grateful to Okehampton Golf Club for their support. NRAS receives no statutory funding, this must be raised through donations.

“With your help we can be there for more people in their time of need”.
