AT Okehampton Golf Club on Lady Captain’s Day the ladies played for their new Centenary Trophy.

The first name to go on the trophy will be that of Maggie Caws who won on countback by one shot from Lorna Evans.

The winning team on the day were Maggie Caws, Mary Keir, Janice Stanistreet and Sue Williams. The ladies then enjoyed their first meal together for some 18 months.

In the August medal Babs Beaney was the winner with a nett 72, followed by Elaine Marwood second and Lorna Evans in third place.

Several ladies went to Holsworthy to play for the "Western Morning News" Cup, Sue Stanbury and Marcia Collett were in the prizes in seventh place.

On Wednesday, Maggie Caws and Sue Williams travelled to Came Down Golf Club to play in the regional finals of the Coronation Foursomes, a national competition organised by the R and A.

After leading the field they were pipped into second place behind the ladies from Looe just missing out on an all expenses paid trip to St Andrews.

Both teams were in action on Friday in the final matches of the Presidents and Sheelagh Creasy interclub competitions. The Presidents team won all five of their matches and the Creasy team won three matches to two, against strong opposition from Stover Golf Club.

These wins should guarantee that both teams will proceed to the County finals.
