LAST weekend saw the biggest event of the calendar at Downes Crediton Golf Club.
The Mid Devon foursomes open saw more than 200 players play for the covenant title but it was a pair of Darren Couch and Darren Blowes (Long Sutton) who took the single sex trophy home with the mixed pair of David and Sue Williams (Okehampton) taking home the mixed trophy.
Andy Frankum (Crediton) and Dave Sims (Libbaton) finished in top spot and took home the handicap prize with a score of 56 points over 27 holes.
The Scratch prize was taken by Wesley Allen and Lewis Greenwood-King (Long Sutton) who scored 51 points over 27 points and the best mixed pair was Andy and Julie King (Cricket St Thomas) with a score of 51 points.
The best single sex pair were Marcus White and Jack Cross (Okehampton) with a score of 53 points.
The best Okehampton handicap round was taken by Phi Harper and Kai Dymond who scored 39 points while the best scratch round was won by Gary and Lee Carey who scored 30 points.
In the Crediton prizes, when due to the heavy rain the Crediton round had to be played over nine holes, the handicap winners were Kevin Perry (Crediton) and Ryan Warfield (Oak Manor) who scored 21 points.
The scratch prize was taken by Rodin Mackay and Kevin Cole (both Crediton), with a score of 17 points.
In the Midweek Stableford on Wednesday, May 19, Matt Dyne produced another solid performance scoring 38 points to take the victory, beating Tony Wonnacott (38 points) into second place by virtue of a better back nine holes.
Shirley Stunell and Stacey Ford scored 32 points to take this year’s Peugeot Coronation foursomes on Thursday, May 20.
Fran Shrubsole and Ying Wong finished second with a score of 28 points.
