THE last week has been another seven days of casual Golf and competitions at Downes Crediton Golf Club.

It was really nice to see the colour return to the course, with stripes appearing on the fairways and on the greens.

The last few days has also seen students from Exeter University returning for their Golf.

Over recent years our Club has had good links with Exeter University, and many of the students have taken the opportunity to enjoy Golf at Downes Crediton.

With all the events that have taken place over the summer, we haven’t made much mention of the regular competitions that occur during the week.

There is the regular Wednesday Stapleford, and the very popular Thursday evening 9 hole competition.

There are also regular Seniors and Ladies events, friendly matches with other clubs, and the number of league competitions.

It is good to see so much golf being played, at all levels and by all ages.

On Tuesday the Ladies section undertook one of their annual events, this one being ‘Ladies in Pink’.

This was in support of the Breast Cancer Charity and raised another £80 towards that charity.

The competition was won by Lyn Parry with a score of 39 points.

One light hearted observation from the competition, it’s amazing how many shades of pink there are!

In the other Ladies competition, the Freddie’s Foursomes, the honours were taken by Diane Botterill and Anne Woodger.

The Seniors didn’t have a competition this week, their main event was an away day at Enmore Park.

Saturdays main event also had a large field of over 80 players.

The Jordan Cup and September medal saw some excellent scoring with 13 players under the course par of 70. The winning card of 60 strokes, off a handicap of 6, was returned by Matthew Russell.
