ON Saturday, May 6, in beautiful surroundings an individual medal competition for the President’s Trophies was held at Okehampton Golf Club.

The winner of Division One with nett 62 was Steve Mander. The next three players all achieved nett 65 and after countback Alan Grimshaw was second, Simon Taylor was third and Colin Cornwall was fourth.

Division Two was won by John Halliday with a fantastic nett 61, Mitchell Hunt was second with nett 64 and Alan Lawson was third with nett 65.

Chris Ball was the winner of Division three with nett 63 followed into second place by Tim Butler with nett 66 and third place was awarded to Michael MacDonald with nett 68.

The winner of the President’s Scratch Cup Trophy was Kevin Pedrick with the lowest gross score of 71 nett 66.

The Ladies County Championships were held at Tavistock last weekend and after successfully getting through the quarter finals on the Saturday, Abby Turner was back on the tee on Sunday morning to play in the semi’s.

After a long gruelling match Abby eventually managed to overcome her opponent to win on the 22nd hole!

It was then a very quick turn around and back on the tee for the grand final. Some fantastic golf was played by both ladies but in the end Keeley Clarke form Torquay took the match 3 and 2.

A brilliant achievement for Abby in reaching the finals and once again flying the flag for Okehampton Golf Club.

Congratulations also go to our Junior Basil Steer team of Peter Howell, Jay Carroll and Henry Harbron who were successful with a 2/1 win over Exeter on Sunday, May 7 at Fingle Glen Golf Club.

They will now go through to the next round against Tavistock.
