THE winners of the Seniors Open at Okehampton Golf Club on Monday, April 15 were the team of Tony Phillips (Okehampton Golf Club), Mike Ingham (Accrington Golf Club and Jim Hibdige of Salisbury and South Wilts Golf Club) with 80 points which included an impressive Eagle Two on the 11th hole and the runners-up were Brian Goble, Francis Griffiths and Peter Tunnicliffe from Launceston Golf Club with 70 points.

The winners of the Mixed Open played on Tuesday, April 16 were Richard and Di Johnson (Okehampton Golf Club) with 42 points winning on the back six just ahead of the runners-up Roger Stevens (Tiverton Golf Club) and Maggie Caws, Okehampton’s Lady Captain, also with 42 points, Nick and Lin Atkinson (Okehampton) had the next best score of 40 points.

The best visitor prize went to Brian and Sally Newman of Stover Golf Club with 35 points.

On Saturday, April 20, in gorgeous sunshine, members competed for the Barnes Cup in a Four Ball Better Ball Stableford competition.

The winners of Division One and the Barnes Cup were Jerry Lock and Nick Atkinson with 45 points, in second place were Ian Moore and Dan Hudson with 44 points, third place went to Rod Milsom-Smith and Colin Beardwell with 43 points just ahead on the back nine from Alan Stokes and Nick Redman in fourth place.

Division Two winners were Reg Prescott and Richard Prouse with 42 points, just ahead on the back nine from Roger Grafton and Kevin Harding in second place, third place went to Mike Davis and Alan Grimshaw with 40 points, just ahead on the back nine from Paul Ayris and Paul Fewings in fourth place.
