THE Ladies Club Championships took place at Okehampton Golf Club on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 25 and 26 and despite some testing weather the ladies came through with some good results.

The club’s new lady champion for 2017 is Abby Turner with a gross 73 nett 70 in the first round and gross 77 nett 74 in the second round.

Cherry James was the winner of the best nett and Mary Keir won the Vick Rosebowl with 33 points.

On Saturday, July 29, Club Captain Evan Rees hosted “Captain’s Day”, the format being a three-ball two to count stableford with extra points and prizes available on the way around.

The overall winners were Jack Cornwall, Lewis Parry and Mitchell Hunt with 90 points and in second place were Ian Moore, Barry Down and Paul Prouse with 88 points. Richard MacFarlane, Steve Rice and Kevin Perryman were third with 84 points on the back nine from, in fourth Blackie Widdows, Stuart Wilson and Michelle Widdows. The best mixed team prize was won by Adrian Tilley, Janice Thwaites and Pam Jarman with 71 points.
