A LARGE field entered Okehampton Golf Club’s first Seniors Open of the year in glorious sunshine on Monday, April 19.
The format was a three ball two to count stableford and the overall winners were M Read, A Vickery and C Hazelwood (Fingle/Warren) with 84 points.
Second overall were R Stevens, J Maynard and C Wayman (Fingle/Exeter) with 82 points.
Best combination prize was won by Malcolm Hooper, Martin O’Conner and Steve Mander with 80 points and in second were Rod Milsom-Smith, John Haley and John Ripley with 77 points.
Best visitor prize was won by P Harper, B Campbell and P Sturman (Torrington) with 74 points and the second visitor prize was won by S Turpin, G Pascoe and J Bennett (Exeter) with 73 points.
Seventh place was won by A Tilley, V Marks and S Blackmuir (Oke/Ashbury) with 73 points.
On Saturday, April 24, an individual medal competition for the Anniversary Niblick was held.
The winner of Division One was Malcolm Hooper with nett 71, Phil Atherton was second with nett 72 and John Halliday was third also with nett 72.
Division Two and the trophy was won by Pete Murphy with an amazing nett 63, Matt Mills took second with nett 70, narrowly beating Ian Drayner on the back nine.
Jim Murray was the winner in Division Three with nett 69, Kerry Skinner was second with nett 70 after count back placing Nick Reilly in third.
On Wednesday, April 28, the ladies entered an individual stableford competition and the winner with 36 points was Lin Atkinson.
Marcia Collett was second with 34 points and Frances Harbron took third position with 33 points.
