DOWNES Crediton Golf Club is fortunate enough to have two professional golfers, namely Joe Jordan and Ollie Greenslade.
In previous articles both have written a short piece about their golfing story.
This week there was a special occasion for Ollie, so we asked him to tell us about it. Here’s what he wrote:
“So, after four long years I finally graduated my PGA Training which saw me travel to Birmingham University to take a seat at the Great Hall of their university and shake hands with the captain of the PGA to complete my Foundation Degree.
“While the journey has been quite a long one, with lots of bumps along the way, I can’t believe that I can stand here today and call myself a PGA Professional Golfer.
“Throughout my time doing the Degree I’ve made friends for life, had memories that I won’t forget, and maybe a few I can’t remember (perhaps with a help of a liquid substance). But the things I’ve learned along the way haven’t only just made me a better golfer, but grown me as a person.
“I want to thank everyone at Downes GC for their support over the years of my training, Barry, Devon (my Brother) and Joe in particular, who took me under their wings during my training.
“My friends and family, especially my Dad and Mum for their continued support and love throughout the years. Also a huge thank you to my partner Caitlin and little boy Noah, who cheered me on in Birmingham, and have continued to support me over the past year.”
The competitions in another very busy week at Downes included, the Seniors Grandads Trophy, won by Graham Pateman, and a Devon County Golf 3 ball team event. The Saturday event was the Chairmans Cup and May Medal.
