CONGRATULATIONS are being extended to Barry Austin, the Head Professional at Downes Crediton Golf Club, who has been appointed 2021 Captain of the West Region PGA (Professional Golfers Association), which covers Devon, Cornwall, Somerset Gloucester, Wiltshire, Dorset and South Wales.

Barry turned Pro in 1990, attained his PGA qualification in 1993, and has been at Downes for more than 15 years.

He lists his favourite aspects of his role as “the interaction with members and coaching, whilst bringing new people to the game.”

Jim Enright, Chairman of Downes Crediton, expressed “his and the Club’s pride that Barry’s achievements, experience and expertise have been recognised by the PGA by their appointing him as Captain of the West Region PGA for 2021.”
