IN the Mid-Week Stableford competition played at Downes Crediton Golf Club on Wednesday, May 8 Jason Arnold won for the second week in a row scoring 37 points.

On Thursday, May 9 Tracy Chandler took the victory in the County Stableford 4 scoring 32 points. Sue Barr posted 30 points to follow in second whilst Viv Bailey (28 pts) placed third.

Saturday and Sunday, May 11 and 12 saw Downes Crediton and Okehampton stage the ever-popular Mid Devon Foursomes that saw more than 180 competitors compete over the weekend.

With gorgeous sunny weather and both courses in superb condition the days were played in a great spirit and atmosphere.

The scratch winners were Aaron Crabb and Alex Manley from Cricket St Thomas who posted 62 points to win by virtue of a better back 18 holes whilst the Downes Crediton father and daughter pair of Jon and Katie Cornish topped the mixed section scoring 67 points.

The big winners of the weekend though were Ian Moore and Barry Down of Okehampton who not only won the handicap section of the Mid Devon Foursomes but also became Devon County Foursomes Champions (scratch and handicap).

Their impressive level par gross round of 36 points (42 pts h’cap) in the first round was by far the best round of the weekend and gave them a lead that no-one was able to bridge.
