A CHANGE of day for Downes Crediton Golf Club ladies saw them play their LGU Medal on Tuesday, May 30.

Winning with a nett 76 was June Mitchell with Doreen Warren (nett 77) second and Trish Wallis following in third posting a nett 78.

The Midweek Stableford on Wednesday, May 31 saw Connor Clifford continue his recent good run of form by posting 43 points to take the victory.

Ben Marchant finished second scoring 40 points with Richard Belcher (38 pts) third.

The Thursday evening Stableford (June 1) saw a tie in first place for Paul Furzer and John Smale both posting 21 points.

Saturday, June 3 saw all sections of the club come together to play in the President’s Prize, an individual Stableford.

Winning overall and topping Division One was Matt Coates with a fine 40 points off of his 12 handicap.

Second in Division One was Ollie Knowles (38 pts) with Darren Clifford scoring 37 points to take third.

Rob Dobson won Division Two scoring 38 points with Jim Hutchison posting 37 for second whilst Club Captain Alex Williams (36 pts) took third.

Division Three saw victory go to Robin Tooze who scored 38 points with Steve Bassett and Podge Edgecumbe both posting 36 points to take second and third respectively.

Ladies Captain, Shirley Stunell, scored 36 points to take victory in the ladies section.

Last weekend saw Downes’ members involved in four club fixtures across the county.

Firstly on Saturday Downes Dartmoor League team enjoyed a fine 2 ½ - 2 ½ away draw at Dartmouth whilst on Sunday the men’s Annodata team won a very tricky fixture away at Bude to progress through to the next round.

Also on Sunday a team travelled to Exeter to enjoy a friendly mixed match eventually losing 6-4 whilst a B Team match drew 3-3 away at Torquay.
