SANDFORD AFC First 11 played Okehampton in their sixth game of the season on Saturday, October 29.

Both teams being in the lower half of the league, were desperate for points, so it was always going to be a close match.

The home side were without their two main strikers, Deano Jones and Dean Pidgeon, who were unavailable.

The match started with both teams going close to scoring and there were misses at both ends.

Sandford had a good chance after nine minutes when a free kick outside the box in a central position went over the bar.

Then on 23 minutes Sandford had what looked a perfectly good goal ruled offside.

Still the game went from end-to-end without either team taking control.

Half-time arrived with the score at 0-0. Hopefully it will improve after the break.

Four minutes after the start Okehampton had a goal disallowed for offside, then two minutes later Sandford broke away and Tudor  Morgan-Huggett scored.

On 62 minutes, Okehampton attacked and a fierce shot was only parried by the Sandford keeper, unfortunately into the path of the oncoming forward who slotted into the net.

The second goal for the home side came in the 67th minute when Tudor headed the ball forward in the area and Dan Macann scored with another header to make it 2-1 to the home side.

As the game drew to a close Harry Leach popped up with another header in the 82nd minute to make the final score 3-1 to Sandford.

Another valuable three points, well done lads.

Next the First Team are away to Colyton. A big well done to the Second team who went to Northam in North Devon for their Devon Intermediate cup match and came away 3-1 winners. Well done lads.
