CHAGFORD 0 - SPREYTON 10

IN what had been a hard week, Spreyton FC hit their local rivals, Chagford for 10 on Saturday, November 17.

Tim Cockman took charge of the Sprey’s in a temporary managerial role. All week his attitude was superb which saw him taking the manager’s role on a permanent basis. The club is delighted Tim has taken it on.

After what felt like a nervous start for the Sprey’s, they took the lead through Chris Down after 12 minutes and he had his double with a delightful first-time volley over the Chagford ‘keeper from 20 yards.

The second half saw the Sprey’s really start to turn it on, and had their third after 48 minutes with a deserved goal for Cam Pow. Keeping his cool, he slotted it past the advancing Chagford ‘keeper.

Owen Gregory came on and scored with his first touch of the game and shortly after, on 65 minutes, Chris Down completed his hat-trick.

Spreyton were attacking Chagford in numbers and saw another goal flurry with Owen Gregory scoring a quick fire double too, also completing his hat-trick.

On 86 minutes a dangerous cross-in from Liam Ward was turned into his own net by a Chagford player and on 88 minutes Liam finally got his well-deserved goal, going one-on-one with the Chagford ‘keeper and firing it past him.

In the 90th minute Chris Down completed an emphatic performance to grab his fourth goal of the game making it 10-0 to the Sprey’s.

Man of the match was Liam Ward.

The club would like to thank Chagford for their hospitality and wish them all the best for the season.

On to this coming weekend and Spreyton host Cheriton Fitzpaine in what should be a cracker!
