SPREYTON 4 - BRADNINCH 1

IN the game played on Saturday, September 3 Chris Down netted early on from a defensive error from Bradninch following an early corner making it 1-0 to Spreyton after five minutes.

Much of this aggressive attacking football was to follow for the next 20 minutes or so in the first half. A lovely ball floated over to Chris Down to let him through to the goal shortly after his first to make it 2-0 to Spreyton.

After Bradninch realised that Spreyton were tactfully set up for them they started to match us up and mid-way through the half Bradninch nicked a goal from Spreyton who were caught napping going in 2-1 at the break.

The second half started nearly on the same level quality wise to the first with Spreyton on top and looking to push for a third.

Will Hawking played a lovely ball in to Chris Down and controlled nicely on the edge of the box and got his shot away lofted the ball over the ‘keeper to make the game 3-1 and completed his hat-trick.

Spreyton enjoyed most of the second half possession and with 10 minutes to go Matt Baker picked the ball up on the right-hand side of the pitch and created a lovely cross perfect for Liam Ward to complete the score line 4-1.

The manager is delighted with the start to the league and with many mocking Spreyton’s quality and level in this league you can only beat what is in front of you!

We march on to tomorrow, Saturday, three from three for the lads, and the gaffa is ecstatic, a great start to a competitive season also three of the best from Chris Down, who was crowned man of the match.
