SPREYTON 4 - WITHERIDGE 0

THE quest for the cup is up and running as Spreyton FC moved into the next round of the Football Express Cup following last Saturday’s game against Witheridge.

It was an even first half with Spreyton not really at it; attitude and sloppiness from the reds saw the game 0-0 at half-time.

A first “hairdryer” of the season from the Gaffer at half-time saw Spreyton start to take control in the second half.

The goal finally came as ex-Witheridge player Will Hawking unleashed a 25-yard screamer into the top right-hand corner.

This settled Spreyton and the returning Cam Pow slid home the second goal from inside the box - 2-0.

Chris Down capitalised on a loose ball across the Witheridge box to stoop to head in the third - 3-0.

As the game started to run out of steam some quick thinking from a Jamie Hatch throw in released Chris Down to coolly slot home the fourth.

An impressive display by the back four saw another clean sheet and a Man of the Match performance from Adam Leat.

We move on to the next round of the cup to face Cranbrook away. This fixture last year ended in a 1-0 Cranbrook win so let’s hope the lads can change that score line this year.
