SANDFORD Cricket Club played host again last month to a charity skittles tournament which saw 30 teams compete over 10 nights.

The Round Robin event welcomed some new teams, who joined what have become the “regulars”.

Organiser, Nicky Radnor, would like to thank all the teams, the cricket club, bar staff and all those who donated raffle prizes.

The raffle this year was organised by Pam Matten of Okefield Raiders.

Highest individual scores in the first round were Val Ladd (Ladd’s Guns) 48, Gerald Abdoll (Westernlea Warriors) 52, Bob Moss (Nomads) 52.

Bob’s 52 was even more amazing given that he had to throw three out of 12 balls with his non-dominant hand as all his team were skittlers.

The highest leg score went to Crediton Rugby Club, featuring Alistair Tonkin, Clive Tonkin, Dan Priddle and Steve Geatches, with a combined score of 58.

Overall winners were Alan’s Avengers and runner-up were Kingfishers.

As always, the event ended with a game of “Killer” for the Chris Clement Memorial Cup. This was won by Pat Baker who received the cup from Chris’s mum Elaine.

A total of £586.67 was raised by the raffle, donations, killer fees, entry fees and a donation from the cricket club.

Nicky Radnor said: “This amount is approximately £50 more than last year so a huge thank you goes to all those who contributed in any way.”
