APPLEDORE 4 - CREDITON UNITED 0

UNITED travelled to Marshford on March 26 to face Appledore on a wet and windy day on a slick and zippy pitch.

Crediton had to draft in Danny Harvey for his debut due to a player shortage and had a fully unfit bench to choose from who were all carrying injuries.

They had to dig in early doors going against the wind but got off to the worst start possible. Five minutes gone and a deep cross which hit the wind deceived and eluded Waring and fell kindly for Tom Marsh to put the hosts into the lead.

This was doubled on 17 minutes when a slip from Parsons and a poor kick from Waring fell to Marsh 30 yards out and his excellent finish ended up in the net.

For the rest of the half the hosts were sitting in and playing on the counter with their speed in wide areas, while Creddy tried to get a foothold in the game, keeping possession in the middle third but struggling to create any chances up top.

The second half started with Creddy having a 15 minute spell of reasonable pressure and creating a couple of half chances.

The closest effort came on 58 minutes, a poor kick from the home ‘keeper fell to Harvey whose volley from 30 yards just cleared the bar.

Appledore sealed the points on 63 minutes when a fine curled effort from just inside the box nestled into the far corner.

The hosts finished the scoring on 78 minutes with a well-worked goal slotted home from inside the box.

Not one of our best performances of the season but we have no time to dwell on it as it was back in action the next day with a trip to Sidmouth.
