A RECYCLING Project Group has been set up in North Tawton to collect plastics that West Devon Borough Council cannot collect in their kerb side collections.
The first collection will start tomorrow, Saturday, November 21, from 10am to 12.30pm, and then every third Saturday of the month.
Bins will be placed in the Car Park off The Square.
The bins will be manned to ensure that the correct types of plastic are put in the bins. People are encouraged to take their recycling on foot.
The Recycling Project Group say that it is essential that all containers are clean for recycling.
Packaging that WILL be accepted includes: Margarine, spread and ice cream tubs; Cream, yoghurt and cottage cheese pots; Sandwich containers; Salad pots; Fruit and veg trays; Meat and fish trays; Preformed biscuit and chocolate box trays; CDs and cases; Plastic flower pots; Large food containers up to bucket size (approx.) and Bubble wrap – this is the only exception in “soft” plastic that can be accepted.
Items which CANNOT be accepted include: Milk and other bottles (these should be included in kerbside collections); Polystyrene, cling film, Biodegradable plastic, Paint pots, Pet food or soft drink pouches, Crisp and biscuit packets and other soft plastic packaging.
