TEAMS from local primary schools took part in a football tournament on Crediton United’s main pitch, cheered on by family and friends.

The event, organised by Nathan Keast of Primary Sports & Education, involved children from Sandford, Newton St Cyres, Bow, Cheriton Fitzpaine, Brampford Speke, Yeoford and Thorverton primary schools.

The mixed teams from Year 5/6 took part in the tournament, which is held annually, in May after the SAT’s have finished.

Nathan said: "Some excellent football was played in the group stages and quarter finals which resulted in the final four teams of Sandford A, Sandford B, Newton St Cyres and Cheriton Fitzpaine.

"Sandford A won the final 4-0 against Newton St Cyres A.

"Well done to all the children of all teams who played some great football and to Crediton AFC for allowing us to hold the tournament there."

The players in the final all recieved a medal and the winning team, Sandford A, was awarded a trophy.

T Shirts were awarded by the coaches to their chosen "best players" who were: Emma (Bow), Spike (Sandford) and Riley (Sandford).
