ON Saturday, August 8, I returned to Edgerly Cross football field for the home friendly against Torridgeside Reserves, thus winning by 7-3, still unbeaten at home in all matches since October 6, 2018.

I saw that the pitch was in tip-top condition and a lot of work had been done to the building etc.

Many thanks to all.

I also read in the “Daily Press” that the FA Cup competition will begin on September 1.

Also that the Football League matches will start on September 13.

So it is onwards and upwards for grassroots football soon. For me Saturdays are empty with no football since March 14.

Tomorrow, Saturday, August 22, Lapford are at home in a friendly against Bishops Blaize who are in the final of the Devon Intermediate Cup against Farway, and all East Devon area teams.

In the Devon Senior Cup Final it will be Thorverton against Millbridge from West Devon area, and to the Devon Premier Cup final it will be Bampton or Exeter University against Mount Gould who play in the East Cornwall league.

Onwards and upwards, good luck to all for now.
