KENTISBEARE 4 - SPREYTON 2

PLAYED on Saturday, January 6, this game started so well for Spreyton when, within five minutes, Cameron Pow found the back of the net with some close foot work in the box and a lovely finish to beat the Kentisbeare ‘keeper.

Ten minutes later Will Hawking played a lovely ball in behind the defenders for Matt Baker to square it across to Cameron Pow for his second goal of the game.

Kentisbeare got themselves into the game after that and bagged themselves a goal back just before half-time.

For the first 10 minutes of the second half it seemed like Spreyton would push for a third but the Christmas break soon showed and Kentisbeare got themselves an equaliser.

This came from sloppy defending all-round from Spreyton who gave away a free kick on the edge of the box for them to slot home. With Kentisbeare in the driving seat of the game they quickly made it 3-2 with a lovely strike outside the box.

The last 10 minutes looked like Spreyton would equalise however, with some dodgy calls for offside, the luck didn’t seem to be with us and we weren’t good enough for Kentisbeare who finished the scoring with a few minutes to go as we were trying too hard for an equaliser.

Man of the match for Spreyton was Tyler Cole.

We go again in two weeks away at Colyton. Of course it’s disheartening losing however the spirit needs to be lifted and we move on and learn from this result!
