Crediton Youth FC returned again to Home Park for the Match Day Magic Experience after missing last year’s visit due to cup commitments it was great to successfully run the trip for the group of around 35 players and coaches from mainly the Under 10 and 11 age groups.
Despite it being half term and Storm Dennis trying its best to disrupt the day, with heavy rain all morning, a great time was had by all.
The visit started with a one hour training session in the Live Centre taken by Plymouth Argyle Football in the Community coaches.
Next up was the tour of the ground with first stop being the newly redeveloped Mayflower stand and the impressive corporate dining area. Then followed the tour of the new changing rooms, where one of the Argyle Fitness and Conditioning coaches, kindly took time out to pass on some useful nutritional advise to the players.
This was followed by a buffet lunch, and then the anxious wait to see if the game against Crewe Alexandra would survive the 1pm pitch inspection.
Luckily, the game went ahead. But this was mainly down to very little rain being forecast during the game.
The game itself was a cracking contest between two sides both in the top four.
Both sides played their part in a thrilling game played on a difficult surface.
Despite going 1-0 down early in the second half, Argyle came back to win 2-1 with goals from Luke Jephcott and a Antoni Sarcevic penalty.
Special thanks must go to all at Plymouth Argyle FITC for an excellent visit and to Crediton Youth FC Chairman Adrian Harvey for arranging the day.
