DURING the past two weekends Crediton Youth Under 14 Girls footballers have progressed to two cup finals.

First up they made it through to the County Cup Final by beating SB Frankfort 2-1 at Lords Meadow. The Crediton girls dominated possession in the first half but had to settle to go into half-time at one apiece.

A breakaway goal from the opposition had cancelled out Ellie Bishop’s early strike.

The second half was much more open with both sides having chances. Just as it looked like the game would go to extra time a fine finish from Ellie Bishop in the last few seconds sent the Crediton side through to the final.

Another great team performance, in a game which was a great advertisement for girls football.

The final will take place on Tuesday, May 14 at Devon FA headquarters at Coach Road, Newton Abbot, where the girls will face Plymouth Aspire Youth.

Last Sunday (March 24), the Crediton Girls travelled to Budleigh Salterton for the League Cup Semi-Final.

After an edgy first half, which ended goalless, Crediton upped their game and ran out comfortable 5-0 winners in the second half, with goals from Chloe Hartrey, Jessica Sandland and a Ellie Bishop hat-trick.

Credit must go to Maddie Taylor and Megan Hartshorne who stepped in to cover for regular goalkeeper Hollie Seward who was unable to play.

Crediton Youth Girls will face Plymouth Phoenix Girls in the final to be played at Tiverton High School on Sunday, May 19 at 11am.
