TWO teams from Copplestone United Football Club had a fantastic time at an international St Boniface football tournament in Dokkum, Holland at the end of May.

Copplestone, the only UK club in the tournament, was invited to represent Crediton as the birthplace of St Boniface and joined teams from Holland, Poland and Germany where St Boniface is famous for establishing Christianity in the region in the eighth century.

Both Copplestone teams had two full days of football, with the U13s Cobras getting to the final and coming back with the runners-up trophy for their age group.

The U14s Rangers played in the U15s tournament and did well given the tough opposition.

As well as football, the teams had a swimming party and sightseeing trips.

“We had an absolutely fantastic time and I am so proud of the boys who represented the club, Devon and UK so well,” said Steve Cox, Copplestone FC chairman.

He added: “We have already been invited back for next year and plan to make the Tournament an annual event.”

Copplestone FC runs youth football teams from U7/8s – U15s.

The club is currently planning the teams for next season and anyone interested in taster sessions or joining any age group, should contact Kay Gibson, Club Secretary on 07522 342272 or email [email protected] .
