SPREYTON 1 - LAPFORD 0

A VERY hard fought game from both sides on Wednesday, August 30, with chances to go 1-0 up from both teams in the first half.

Chris Hawking pulled off a spectacular save tipping a Lapford one-on-one around the post. Then Spreyton had an early injury blow with Andy Hooper suffering an ankle injury so Mark Baitup had to make the early change bringing on Mike Hows.

Spreyton and Lapford go in at the break 0-0. The first 15 minutes of the second half saw Spreyton enjoy the majority of possession and chances were coming thick and fast.

Baitup then changed the formation again 4-4-2. This created much more for the Spreys and then on came Jez Stephens. Within five minutes the ball was headed in from the half-way line from Josh Phillips.

Chris Down took a lovely touch and twisted the defender to slot the ball into Jez who took it around Lapford’s ‘keeper and slotted the ball home to make it 1-0 to Spreyton.

Baitup then tactically changed again to dig deep in the last 15 to keep hold of the victory and every one of the Spreyton squad should be proud. Today was superb! Two games, two wins, seven goals scored and three conceded.

Man of the match was Tyler Cole.
