A MAN from Thorverton is among 180 nominees in this year’s Exeter Foundation Devon Sports Awards which take place in May.

Jock Spry has been nominated for the Devon Volunteer of the Year award and other nominees include coaches and sportspeople from a diverse range of sports.

The Awards which will take place at Sandy Park celebrate sporting contributions and achievements from community level coaching right through to elite sports performers.

The main purpose of the Awards is to recognise those who inspire people to take part at all levels in sport.

All finalists have been invited to attend a glittering ceremony and this year, they will be presented with their trophies and certificates by TV presenter, two times world champion hurdler and Olympic silver medallist Colin Jackson.

The judging panel, co-ordinated by Active Devon who are overseeing the Awards in partnership with the Exeter Foundation and Exeter College, have carefully whittled the entries down to the final 32 individuals and teams from an extremely strong pool of nominations.
