SPREYTON 5 - COLYTON 0

AFTER last year’s 2-2 draw on a rain-soaked pitch, the sun came out for cracking conditions for football on Saturday, September 15 for this game against Colyton.

Spreyton were up and running early as Chris Down bravely headed over the on-rushing ‘keeper.

Chris struck again on 17 minutes to make it two, cutting in off the left touchline before cooly slotting the ball home.

Andy Hooper pulled up with an ankle injury so Quinton Smith replaced him at left-back. This was followed by another blow for Spreyton as Lee Watkins hobbled off to be replaced by Matt Baker.

The game became scrappy as half-time approached but as the whistle went Spreyton went in two to the good.

The game remained scrappy until Cam Pow picked up a loose ball on the edge of the box, rode two challenges and smashed a beautiful shot into the far corner to settle Spreyton.

The three subs then made a huge statement. Quinton Smith played a cracking ball to Ko King who played a lovely dinked through ball. Matt Baker let the ball settle before dinking a cracking lob for 4-0.

Greg Jolly then floated over a cracking cross for Chris Down to head home his hat-trick and another three points.

Man of the match for Spreyton was Marko Macintosh - Great character from Marko!

On to Saturday, September 22 and another home fixture against Amory!

All three games against them ended in a Spreyton win including the Geary Cup final. Let’s hope the lads can maintain this 100 per cent record!
