THE 2018/19 football season has drawn to a close for Lapford’s teams after good league results and a cup run for the first team who reached the semi-finals against the winners of the Devon Senior Cup. Well done one and all.

Now onto the results for the last and final Saturday (May 4). The Reserves were away at Exeter United, losing by 6-1. They finished in seventh position our of 14 teams and their record for the season reads: P22, W11, D2, L13, GD - 15, pts 35. They also had three clean sheets.

For the First team, now Champions of Senior Division One by 10 points, with their league record as follows: P20, W16, D2, L2, GD +51, pts 50.

The fifth division title in six years and of course in Lapford’s centenary year, plus reaching the semi-final of the cup. Hopefully Premier Division next season.

The first team had 10 clean sheets. The total league goals were: F69, A18, plus Cup goals F15, A3 making a season total of 84-21A. Well done lads, a very good team all-round.

Many thanks to the supporters who put up with the weather, home and away, also many thanks to all of you who supported the club raffle.

See you all at the dinner and dance on May 24 at the Waie Inn where some figures will be revealed.

One more date for the diary is Saturday, August 10, any ex-players you know of please pass the date on.

Until May 24, see you all there. For me it has been a big honour to be still involved with the best village club in the league.
