ON a cracking summer’s day the Stan Setter Salver was contested by all the teams with whom Downes Crediton Golf Club play friendlies.

There were a host of compliments about the condition of the course.

In third place with 77 points were Saunton, in second place with 77 points on countback were Honiton and first with 82 points were the team from Downes Crediton.

It is at the very least 10 years since Downes Crediton has had the best score.

As the salver itself can only be won by a visiting team it is now held by Honiton who were most gracious winners.

Nearest the pins were won by Paul Ezard, Okehampton and John Dabin, Teignmouth.
