IVYBRIDGE 47-29 CREDITON RFC 2ND XV

THE 2nd XV returned from the Christmas break with an away trip to Ivybridge, putting in a spirited performance despite a 47–29 defeat.

The opening 40 minutes was evenly matched, with both sides crossing for three tries apiece. We carried with intent, matched Ivybridge physically, and showed plenty of sharpness after the layoff.

After the break, our hosts made the most of their fast 4G surface, stretching the play and pulling ahead with a couple of well‑worked scores. Our lads refused to fade, hitting back with another try of their own to stay in the contest.

Ivybridge struck once more late on to seal the result, but the game remained competitive throughout and the lads in black and amber kept fighting to the final whistle.

A good contest to blow away the Christmas cobwebs and plenty to build on for the weeks ahead.

Tries: Ben Baxter, Liam Staite, Cameron Vooght, Kevin Ellis. Conversions: Tom Ronchetti, three. Penalty: Tom Ronchetti.
