SENIOR members of Downes Crediton Golf Club played their Jack Painting Memorial Stableford on Monday, June 16. Division One and overall winner was Robert Dobson who scored 39 points, just beating Alan Draper on countback who finished in second place. Division Two winner was Barry Lias also with 39 points and in second place John Bingham with 38 points. A midweek stableford was played on Wednesday, June 18 and Ben Marchant was again the winner with 36 points and in second place was Paul Sandercock with 34 points. Thursday, June 19 saw the ladies play the Grandma's Cup. Leading grandma, with 38 points, was Doreen Warren. The Silver Division was won by Judith Ezard with 35 points and second was Liz Mapson with 34 points. Bronze One was won by Doreen Warren with 34 points just beating Di Parsons on countback in second place. Bronze Two was won by Sue Sparham with 30 points and in second place was Linda Gill with 28 points. Saturday, June 21 saw the Club Championship take place. It is played over two rounds with the top 60 players going through to next weekend's second and final round. In the handicap side Ryan Cross holds the overnight lead after shooting a nett 69, his lead is two shots from four players who have nett 71's. In the main event Issac Greenwood holds the overnight lead after shooting a four over par 74 - two shots clear of his two nearest challengers, Oliver Greenslade and defending champion Martin Garnsey. With the three of them playing together in the final group it promises to be an exciting encounter. DG
