TENTH wicket records have tumbled in the recent Test matches, but here is one that England are unlikely to beat, a 66-year age difference between the last wicket pair. When Cheriton Fitzpaine played Bill Owen's Eleven for the Emmett- Butterfi eld Memorial Cup their last wicket pair were Maurice Blight (77) and Harvey Blake (11). They came creditably close to drawing the match for Cheriton before septuagenarian Maurice edged to the keeper for eight, leaving his 11-year-old partner stranded on six not out. Earlier in the match Harvey has sent down three very useful overs, one of which was a maiden, conceding only four runs. Maurice played in the very first Cheriton Fitzpaine Cricke t Club team that played against Stoodleigh way back in 1957, along with his three brothers. Some 57 years later he and his younger brother Peter are still regular features of the side. Harvey, who plays under 11's cricket for East Devon and Sandford CC, is a regular member of the Cheriton Fitzpaine friendly Eleven along with his father, Paddy and brothers, Tom and George. Harvey also holds another record for Cheriton, becoming their youngest wicket taker when he took his first senior wicket against touring side Oakleigh CC on July 6, just 59 days after his 11th birthday.
