POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a two-vehicle collision between Bow and North Tawton on Sunday, March 12, which left a woman seriously injured.

Emergency services were called at 10.40pm to the collision involving two Honda Civics, one blue and one white, on the A3072 outside Den Brook Wind Farm.

The blue Honda rolled a number of times and ended up on its roof.

A passenger from this vehicle, a 21-year-old woman from Mid Devon, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

The driver, a 23-year-old man from Crediton, was taken to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital with minor injuries.

The road was closed for officers to carry out an examination of the scene and remained closed this morning while road repairs were being carried out.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the incident and would also like to hear from anyone who may have seen the vehicles travelling on the A3072 prior to the incident.

Both Crediton fire crews and the North Tawton crew were alerted to attend the incident but two were returned to station when it was confirmed that their services were not required. One appliance attended to provide scene safety.

The injured people were released from the vehicles prior to the arrival of the fire service.

The road remained closed at the scene during the rest of the night and the next morning to enable forensic work to be completed and to enable Devon Highways to complete road surface repairs to areas damaged during the collision.

Anyone who may have information about the collision is asked to contact police via the email address: [email protected] or telephone 101, quoting log number 873 of March 12, 2017.

• Also on Monday morning (March 13), a road accident occurred at Cowley, between Crediton and Exeter, on the A377 road, which resulted in long traffic jams in both directions, many motorists reporting being held up for more than an hour.
