WHY is Crediton asking for volunteer litter pickers when I have heard that Cullompton and Tiverton Town Council’s employ a person to do this?

• Crediton Town Clerk, Mrs Clare Dalley has replied:

“The writer is correct, the Town Council could agree to employ a person to collect litter and this would be an additional cost being met by the taxpayers of Crediton.

“This means all the taxpayers of Crediton will be paying to clean up after those few inconsiderate people who demonstrate a clear lack of respect for the environment, their neighbours and our beautiful town by unnecessarily dropping litter in the first place.

“The Town Council wants to know the views and opinions of its residents. So, as a Crediton taxpayer, do you want the Town Council to employ a person to collect litter?”
