VISITORS flocked to the Country Fair at Downes House, Crediton in aid of St Luke’s Church, Posbury, which was held in brilliant sunshine on Saturday, August 6.
The event was officially opened by the Rt Rev Nick McKinnel, the Bishop of Plymouth who said: "What a lovely day in fantastic surroundings and for a good cause.
"People worked very hard to make it a successful day that was enjoyable for everyone."
There were a number of stalls for St Luke’s Church, which sold items such as books, cakes and plants.
Traders, local groups and charities also had stalls at the fair as well as a family dog show sponsored by St Boniface Veterinary Clinic with 12 classes.
There were a variety of field and track events for children in a Mini Rio Olympics and children could have their faces painted. Retained firefighters from Crediton Fire Station attended the event with one of their fire engines.
Local steam enthusiasts from The Crediton Steam and Model group played host to guests from the Tiverton & District Model Engineering Society at their stand where there were a range of trains, boats and steam engines.
Visitors enjoyed al fresco food from the barbecue, cream teas and refreshments including Pimms on the lawns of Downes House.
