PUPILS at Hayward’s Primary School in Crediton have taken part in the National Gallery’s “Take One Picture” art challenge.

Different year groups created their own art pieces inspired by famous 18th century painting A Regatta on the Grand Canal by Canaletto, which shows a gondola regatta during carnival season in Venice.

The children’s creations were exhibited in the school hall.

They used a variety of paints, pens and other materials to make collages, Venetian masks, 3D models of buildings along the Grand Canal, miniature gondolas, flags of different boat teams in the regatta, geometric designs, ceramic tiles and more.

Hayward’s Primary School does the National Gallery’s annual art programme every other year.
