A CREDITON woman, on the day that changes were made to Mid Devon District Council's recycling and brown bin collections, has written to MDDC about problems she and neighbours encountered:

She wrote: Would you please explain why:

1) Today, our normal black box and brown bin collection day, all recycling materials in the black boxes in Hawthorn Road were tipped into the brown bins by your refuse collectors and then taken to the lorry parked in Searle Street and emptied wholesale into that lorry. All the brown bins were then left on the corner of Searle Street not returned to the relevant householder as is normal practice.

2) Hawthorn Road is not a "Private road or track" which, having read your article in the "Courier" dated March 21, would be the criteria for this sort of behaviour.

3) What is the point of householders sorting recycling from garden/food waste etc when your collectors are mixing it together?
