This time it will take place at Crediton Methodist Church Hall (located near the War Memorial on Union Road) during half-term from Saturday, October 22 to Saturday, October 29 inclusive from 10am to 4pm daily (except Sunday).
Once again residents are asked to take along all their pre-loved household items, clothes, garden tools, DVD’s and CD’s, books, children’s toys and equipment that are still in reusable condition to give away.
They will also be able to take away five items each day absolutely free of charge. There is no catch and they do not have to Give AND Take - they can just do one or both!
Just a few items are not suitable for donation and these include cassette tapes, VHS videos and any flammable substances including paint. Also only the flat screen type of TV’s can be accepted.
This time, thanks to the kind parishioners of the Methodist Church, the venue will also house a pop up cafe. This means once you have “shopped” you can sit down over a cuppa and a piece of cake, at very reasonable prices, and have a good old chat with friends, old and new.
As part of the event, on Saturday, October 29, there will also be a very special extra feature.
For the first time in Crediton, Sustainable Crediton will be organising a “Repair It” Cafe from 10am to 12.30pm where people can take along small electrical items that are not working such as toasters and hairdryers.
An expert will look at them with you to see if they can be repaired and give you a hand fixing them! More details of the “Repair It” Cafe will be published as they become available.
Esther Mann, co-ordinator of the Sustainable Crediton Waste Action Group, said: “We are very excited about this event. Having such a suitable central venue with a pop up cafe will give the whole week a real community feel.
“We are very grateful to the Methodist Church for their support. We are largely a self-funded organisation which means what we can organise in the way of free events can be limited.
“However with the church offering us their facilities free-of-charge, it has meant we have been able to organise this third Give and Take event for Crediton residents.
“Our two events in 2015 were both really successful and we plan to build on that this year with these extra features.”
So why not start decluttering straight away and get ready to let others have the benefit of those things in your home you no longer need and use.
