ON Saturday, October 7, Sunflower Day Nursery in Crediton held a World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
The nursery staff were thrilled to see more than 40 parents, children, carers and family come through the doors to make such a successful fundraiser.
Thanks to their generosity Sunflower Day Nursery raised a whopping £220.77 in cake and coffee sales.
Cakes were made and donated by staff and children at Sunflower Day Nursery from shortbread to "a beast" of a burger cake and anything in-between, they truly were a tasty treat for a dull Saturday morning.
A "Bake Off" competition was also held and attracted seven entries from staff, families and two younger bakers aged seven and eight-years-old who previously attended Sunflower Day Nursery entering a cherry cake and a chocolate and vanilla sponge cake.
With the visitor’s palette at the ready they were able to help judge whose cake came out on top!
Stacey McDonald (manager) was pleased to announce that the winner of the competition was eight-year-old Olivia Hubber with her outstanding creation "McDonald’s burger and fries" vanilla and chocolate cake.
Olivia also won The World’s Tallest Coffee Morning Cake game, guess the size competition.
Her prize winnings totaled £17 plus a Best Baker badge.
Massive congratulations to Olivia.
