FOR its August meeting the Shobrooke Friendly Club held a Summer Tea Party with entertainment.

All the members were invited, as well as those from Crediton and surrounding areas, who support the club, and in total about 34 people attended.

A nominal charge was made for the afternoon, which also included a draw.

The afternoon started with entertainment provided by Brian Sandy with guitar, who sang a selection of songs from the 1960’s and 70’s, all of which were well-known by the members, and remembered, no doubt, from their youth.

It was pleasing to see the number of people actually joining in the singing. It was well-appreciated by those attending.

After the entertainment everyone sat down to the Summer Tea, which consisted of a variety of quiches, cakes and scones and, of course, tea or coffee.

On September 5, the Club has organised a short trip to Plymouth to see the Plymouth Poppy Wave in commemoration of the 1914-18 War.

We will be stopping en-route at Endsleigh Garden Centre for lunch.

On September 20 an outing to Clarks Village and Wells has been arranged.
