David, himself a local man, was one of the founder members of the museum. His talk was supported by images projected onto a screen and there were leaflets about both the museum and also the newly re-opened Crediton Town Trail available.
Also, on sale, was a selection of slim booklets on various subjects - one being the history of the Bristow’s sweet factory Sticky Stories from the Toffee Factory, written by former factory owner, Frank Bristow.
Chair, Carole Towler, thanked David for his talk.
She reminded members about two important events coming up. Firstly, the Dementia Awareness Day at the Boniface Centre on September 7 from 9.30am to 2pm, which is open to all (lunches need booking in advance) and also the Older Person’s Day in the grounds of Exeter Cathedral on October 1, again open to all and free entry.
A speaker from St Boniface Vets will be the speaker at the next meeting on September 14, at 2pm in the Meadow Suite, Lords Meadow Leisure Centre. All are welcome.
For further information on monthly meetings or to book for the Dementia Awareness Day please telephone Ron Cuthbertson on 01363 775502.
