THE annual Sandford Scarecrow Trail fundraiser for the village school has begun.

This year’s theme is “back to nature” to celebrate natural historian Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday.

Described as “a great summer holiday activity”, children and families can enjoy spotting the three dozen scarecrows around the village.

Trail maps complete with a “fun challenge” can be bought from Sandford Community Stores for £4.

The scarecrows will be in place until Friday, September 4.

Sandford Community Stores is open from 8.30am to 5.30pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays (closed 1pm to 2pm), 8.30am to 1pm on Wednesdays, 8.30am to 12.30pm on Saturdays and 10am to 12pm on Sundays.
